Being a part of the community is something that the Flowood Fire Department takes very seriously and we consider it a vital part of our mission. The City sponsors ten events a year such as the Flowood Festival, Christmas in the Park and The Annual Easter Egg Hunt. When these events occur, you can be sure that our Public Education Division will be there handing out our educational materials and meeting the public by way of providing quick first aid response. Other venues include judging the Annual Science Fair for the Flowood Elementary School, The Mayors Cup Golf Tournament as well as many Chamber of Commerce events.
October is Fire Safety Month and the Department delivers fire safety educational materials to every student ages K – Fifth Grade. We believe that fire safety education has a great impact on fire related injuries in our city and the statistics have shown that there has not been a fire related injury in our city in the past ten years.
Station tours are a normal occurrence with the Flowood Fire Department. In fact, we normally have in excess of 400 students to visit our stations every year.
The Northwest Rankin High School art department and the Flowood Fire Department has partnered by allowing the students to do an art project every year which can be viewed by the public at any time at Central Station.
The Department also participates in other events outside of our district in cooperation with other agencies.
